I work across the fields of silversmithing, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, drawing and sculpture.  My interest in colour, texture and pattern leads me to experiment and develop my object-making in a variety of materials. The importance I place on mark-making is shown in the repetition of impressions on both my clay body and my silver spoons.

Ambience explores the position of practice within a domestic environment. The clutter of studio life, items found on walks and treasures from jumble sales are gathered together in this exhibition and shown alongside work by five contemporary artists: Tori Day, Vicky Hageman, Beatrice Larkin, Liz May and David Webb. The gallery at Creative Space, 1 Red Lion Lane is ideal because it imparts domesticity with a strong sense of the home; it is a reassuringly familiar place.

Ambience reflects the curator’s lifelong habit of making, collecting, reading and gathering. The show is inspired by Jim and Helen Ede’s home, Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, which Jim Ede described as “a space, an ambience, a home.”
